Places to go in Tarrytown
Lake Austin: The lake is a part of the Colorado River and is a constant water level lake, and has homes that border this lake in the western part of Tarrytown. Fishing, boating, and water sport are big attractions on this lake, and this gives you a unique experience of freshwater nature right in the urban core of ATX.
Walsh Landing: It is a public boat ramp on Lake Austin that overlooks the Tom Miller Dam. It is a center where you will find the popular and perennial Hula Hut, and the well-liked Mozart’s coffee, that also offers every year, a festive holiday lights show.
Reed Park is where residents of central ATX can find a barbecue pit, picnic tables, walking trails, a playground, and a swimming pool. Triangle Park (it is shaped like a triangle), as Tarrytown Park is also called, has a creek that you can explore, and a playscape and a baseball field. ATX Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria: This museum has grounds along the Lake that were originally home to Native Americans, and which were later owned by one of the city’s founding fathers, Stephen. F. Austin, and after whom ATX was named. Clara Driscoll, in 1943, donated Laguna Gloria, for use as a museum, and nowadays it offers events, classes, and exhibitions.
